The Newcastle depot was originally built in 1972 with the
purpose to recycle copper cables and produce copper granules.

Mountstar purchased the site in 1993, originally focusing on purely cable recycling. Now the site process around 5,000 tonnes of cable a year, and also trades non-ferrous scrap metals and Catalytic Converters.
